Lismore Base Hospital – General Medical Unit

Lismore Base Hospital, Medical ward (C7) provides an acute care service, comprising of seven Medical teams. Specialities available include Renal medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Geriatrics. General medicine physicians covering the ward also have a special interest in Neurology, Endocrinology, Infectious diseases and Chronic pain. Services are also available for acute stroke patients. Twelve cardiac monitors are available on ward C7 to safely care for cardiology and acute stroke patients. Six single rooms are available to accommodate private patients, palliative care patients, patients with multi resistant organisms and infectious diseases. Two single rooms have the capacity to be negatively pressurised to accommodate patients with air borne conditions such as Tuberculosis. A multidisciplinary approach to all care is provided and the team includes nursing, medical, pharmacy and allied health staff.

  • General Visiting Hours: 8.00am-8.00pm (Rest Period 1.00pm-3.00pm)
  • Patients are admitted to the Unit via the Emergency Department of direct admission via bed management
  • Other referrals to the Unit are via peripheral hospital facilities or other departments within Lismore Base Hospital
