Emergency Department

The Emergency Department provides a 24 hour service staffed by Medical Officers and Nursing staff. The department provides Emergency care for all presentations and a decision is made for the ongoing management of the patient. Patients will either be discharged after treatment, admitted into the Inpatient Unit or transferred to a larger facility for management.

  • The Emergency Department is open 24hours, 365 days per year.
  • The Emergency Department provides emergency care for urgent or life threatening conditions that cannot be managed by a local general practitioner.
  • Presentations by are ambulance or self referral.
  • Emergency Care is provision for Emergency Care is care provision for urgent or life threatening conditions that cannot be managed by a local general practitioner.
  • Patients are seen based on the Australasian Triage Scale which prioritises clinical care. It is important to understand that accessing the Emergency Department for non-urgent care is not the best care model for primary health care needs.
