Ballina District Hospital – Emergency DepartmentThe Ballina Hospital Emergency department is a level 3 Rural Emergency Department. The department is staffed by a highly qualified medical team of Career Medical Officers, Emergency Specialists, Locum Medical Officers and Nursing staff. An on site Radiology service is available 7 days per week, between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm.
- The Ballina Emergency Department offers care to patients of all ages with critical and acute illness
- The service is accessible to all persons that present and services the catchment area from Evans Head in the South to Lennox Head in the north and as far west as Alstonville
- Patients are triaged according to guidelines set down in the national triage scale and seen accordingly
- inpatient services are provided for some medical conditions, with the remaining transferred to other facilities within the Northern NSW Local Health District and further as clinical need indicates
